The aerial ropeway was installed along the line of the actual dam wall to allow delivery of Skips of puddle clay used to construct the core of the dam.

Drop-Side railway wagons used for the delivery of Square Pitching Stones for the upper level of the reservoir side of the embankment. This cladding is to prevent wave action erroding the embankment slope. Wagons are spaced along the length of the dam and several men can be seen working on the installation of the square stones.

View taken from upper windows of Victoria Lodge. This shows railway wagons on the dam wall and the main railway up to the west end of the dam. This line earlier would have continued to the far end of the dam at Talla Linns but it would have been lifted by the time of this photograph. How did the line on the dam and this line interconnect.

Steam "Navvie" used for digging out the peat floor of the reservoir site. It is fitted with double flange wheels and is on rails. It would have moved about by digging in the bucket and winching itself along

This view of the reservoir bed shows a pair of railway points (turnouts) indicating a fairly complex railway system.
